The lady in her late 70's trying to learn financial management because her husband lost his part-time job and they're doing everything they can to make ends meet on her income alone.
The bereaved family who lost a love one just before Christmas, and had so little money left over after paying for the funeral that they could not afford food.
The worried mum whose 12-year-old son walks 40 minutes each way to go to school. They can't afford a car, and there's no public transport in their out-of-town area.
The single dad standing in the shopping centre, trying to find a way to buy his son a Christmas present and also afford food.
The parents of three who start each school year in dread, because they know they can't afford the 'proper' uniform and other resources their children need.
And love made it better.
The lady in her late 70's was give financial support to help buy groceries. Our worker said, "her eyes filled with tears and the loveliest smile returned to her face."
The bereaved family were helped with groceries, presents and vouchers. They said how grateful they were to be supported when they did not have the capacity, financially or emotionally, to celebrate Christmas.
The worried mum was given a bike and a gift voucher. She used the voucher to buy her son a helmet and lock. The mother was so grateful and her excited boy rode his bike home – 20kms away!
The single dad was moved to tears when some vouchers meant he could buy his boys, aged 14 and 9, a Christmas gift. He said it relieved the intense pressure he usually feels at this time of year.
The parents of three were helped to buy stationery, school bags and school uniforms. One of their kids said they now felt more like a 'normal' family.
